Summer is here, and I feel safe saying we could all use a beach vacation. It’s time to relax – listening to the waves, soaking up the sun, reading a magazine, going for a swim, maybe even taking a nap – the beach is calling out to me today. Today I’m going to share my beach vacation essentials to help you get vacation ready.
Beach Vacation Essentials
I must warn you, this is a short list, because I like to pack light and only take the essentials when I’m going to the beach for the weekend.
he first essential thing you have to pack for a beach vacation is a swimsuit. I like to bring a couple of options with me (they are small and don’t take up much room, so I might as well have choices). I’m eyeing this color block plunge swimsuit for this summer, but if you are a fan of a more classic look, this red one-piece or this Frankies Bikini might be more your speed. And you can never go wrong with a cascading ruffle one-piece swimsuit.
A cotton dress cover up looks great layered over any suit, and I like having thin, long sleeves on windy days. Just add a pair of shorts and you are all set! But if you want a more traditional cover up, or you are planning on going somewhere to eat when you leave the beach, a maxi dress is always a good choice.
When thinking accessories, I always start with a straw tote bag. Because it’s not really a trip to the beach if you don’t have a straw tote. I always look for a tote bag with straps that are long enough to carry on my shoulder.
For the most part, I avoid wearing jewelry to the beach, but a little metallic sparkle on a pair of flip flops is fun. And a scarf can do double duty as a bracelet or to tie your hair back.
Add a great pair of sunglasses, a bottle of sunscreen, an oversized beach towel, and a few magazines to your bag, and you are all set for a weekend at the beach!
Now I just need to decide which beach to visit this summer! Do you have a favorite beach vacations spot? Leave your recommendations in the comments for me.
