Scarves are a year-round accessory for me. In the winter, I love bundling up in heavy knit sweaters to stay warm here in the Pacific Northwest. But in summer, and as the seasons transition to fall, I often find myself wearing light summer scarves. Today I’m going to share some of my favorite ways to wear a scarf.
5 Ways To Wear A Scarf
Scarves are a great way to brighten up an outfit. In the summer, I look for lightweight scarves made of cotton, rayon, or linen.

Wear A Scarf As A Hair Accessory
There are a few ways to use scarves as hair accessories. Small to medium scarves make great headbands. You can either knot the scarf in the back, under your hair, or tie it on top if you like a little bow. Longer scarves look great tied around ponytails, especially if you have medium to long hair. I like to secure the scarf to my ponytail holder before I tie the knot or bow to make sure it stays in place.

Wear A Scarf Around Your Neck
Let’s start with the obvious, you can wear a scarf…like a scarf! I love wearing a brightly-colored, long scarf in a basic loop around my neck or tied in the front with a knot.
Smaller scarves can be worn like chokers or a knot necklace. I especially like these looks with bandanas, but they will work with any small scarf.
A lightweight scarf worn casually around your neck without tying it down gives an effortless vibe to a simple outfit.

Wear A Scarf As Clothes
Large scarfs make great wraps for chilly nights. But if you want to take them a step further, you can also wear them as bathing suit cover-ups, a shirt, or even a dress.

Let Your Bag Wear The Scar
I love adding a cute pop of color to my handbags by tying a small scarf onto it. This is also a great solution if the day turns out to be warmer than expected and you want to take your scarf off without stuffing it inside your bag while you are on the go.

Your Scarf Can Be A Bracelet
Just loop it around your wrist and tie it in a bow, and you are all set. I love this look when I’m going to the beach or spending time at the pool.
