When the season changes, I always find myself becoming more introspective. It’s a good time to evaluate how things are going in your life and to make changes. Although it isn’t fall yet, I’ve already pulled out my journal and started making lists and planning for the new season. I’ve also been giving a lot of thought to legacies this year – what we are building in the world and what we will eventually leave behind – and that is really helping me to focus in on the things that are the most important to me.
Planning Ahead For A Great New Season
Here are a few questions I ask myself to help focus in on what’s important and ensure I’m making time for the things that are really important:
- Am I spending time doing the things I love every week?
- What is feeding my soul right now?
- Am I regularly taking time to rest and relax?
- What do I want to learn more about?
- Am I making time to focus on other people and needs in my community?
- Where do I want to focus my volunteer efforts this season?
- Am I making time for the important relationships in my life?
- Who do I want to spend more time with?
- Am I intentionally bringing new people into my circle (either business or personal)?
- Where do I want to travel?
- Am I happy with my spending, saving, and giving?
- Am I being efficient with work tasks?
- What is the next step I need to take in my career?
- Am I on track with my goals for the year?
What Legacy Am I Creating?
While some of these things are really practical day to day things, like being efficient at work or saving money, most of the questions on my list are about making sure the important things aren’t getting lost in the business of life.
I want to make time to nurture the people I love, to show kindness, to spread positivity, and to have fun. That’s the legacy I am working on building.
These things are a big focus for me both in my real life and online. That’s why it always means so much to me to hear that someone was inspired to try something fun or learned something from reading one of my blog posts. Or they were encouraged by a message I shared on Instagram. I love that these online spaces give me the opportunity to create community, spread positivity and kindness, and share fun ideas. And I love being able to connect with other people who are focused on bringing more positivity into the world.
What is most important thing you focus on when you think about your legacy?
