I’ve always lived in the Windows world, but I’ve recently made a transition as I received one of the greatest gifts. Yep, A MacBook Pro with touchbar, so I’m now living in the world of Apple ! Wahoo I have to say…I’m loving it. Don’t get me wrong, there is definitely a learning curve. For instance, I’ve called Applecare more than a few times to ask questions, but I’m getting the hang of it.
Thinking About Getting A MacBook Pro?
Here are a few of the features I love about my MacBook!
The Weight
The MacBook Pro is light, no doubt about it! I notice a huge difference when I slip it in my bag to go to the coffee shop to write a post or 2. My PC wasn’t huge, but it was definitely thicker and heavier.
The Battery Life
I’m getting 8-10 hours of battery life, which is amazing. One quick tips is to make sure you don’t have your brightness turned up all the way. That will drain your battery very quickly!
The Touch Bar
This is my favorite thing about the MacBook Pro – the Touch Bar. This is a touch-based OLED bar that replaces the row of function keys on your keyboard. The biggest plus I’ve found with the Touch Bar is the ability to turn on and unlock the computer by fingerprint. This is absolutely one of my favorites! I use this feature often to unlock my MacBook!
In addition, I also love the Touch Bar set up for audio and video controls. Part of my learning curve is getting used to all of the Touch Bar functions within my different apps. If you haven’t used the Touch Bar before, you should know depending on which app is active on your screen, the bar’s options change to reflect the best controls for that program. At any rate, you can still personalize the controls. It’s worth it to test the bar in all of your usual apps and figure out how to save time or just make your work more fun!
Here Are A Few MacBook Pro Accessories You Will Need
- USB-C Dongle: One of the strangest things I noticed about switching over to the MacBook Pro was the lack of USB ports. In fact, I didn’t realize how often I used those on my PC until I didn’t have them. A USB-C dongle fixes this issue. There are a lot of them out there on the market, so make sure to get one with all of the ports you need.
- Bluetooth Mouse: The trackpad works great, but I like to use a mouse. Apple has their own Bluetooth mouse, the Magic Mouse, that is super snazzy. It’s basically it’s own trackpad. But if you like the feel of a more traditional, hefty mouse, you can connect any Bluetooth mouse you like best.
- PlugBug Duo: This is a nifty device that is designed to attach to your MacBook charger, creating an all in one charger for your MacBook Pro and two USB devices. It also has multiple plugs, so you can convert it to fit most global electrical outlets. Great for traveling!
