When I was a child I remember all the jokes about people turning forty. Yikes. My parents were invited to more than one “over the hill” party that had a birthday cake decorated with “over the hill” party favors. For a long time turning forty was seen as something not so fun. In my opinion, that perception has slowly changed in recent years. As I head into my forties I’m realizing more than ever how much this is NOT the end of my life. In fact, there are a lot of great things about turning forty.
My 30’s vs 40’s and Why I’m Not Afraid of The Next Decade

More Confidence
The teen years can be tough, in some ways we carry self-consciousness into our twenties. But by the time the thirties hit, you start to find your true self. As I head into my forties, I’m finding I’m much more confident in who I am and what I want out of life. And I’m not as willing to back down – I’m facing challenges head-on and believing I will succeed. Who can relate?

Not Being Held Back By Other People’s Opinions
Along with confidence comes the ability to not worry about what other people think. I do have a close circle of female friends I trust to bounce ideas off of or get advice. On the other hand when it comes to general people having a negative opinion, I’m not really interested. There is a real freedom in that. Don’t take this the wrong way, it doesn’t mean I’m not interested in what you may have to say, I’m merely saying I take negative opinions with a grain of salt!

Taking Time For Things I Love
Every year I understand myself a little more, and as I do, I’m learning what I really enjoy about life. As I head into my forties, I’ve learned how to take time and do things that are important to me instead of putting them off for another day. On the flip side of that, I’m setting aside the things I don’t love and not giving them as much energy as I did in my thirties. Amen to that!

Fashion Is Fun Again
So, I’ve never gotten tired of fashion, but think back to when you were first getting a paycheck how much fun it was to go to the mall and buy clothes without a family member telling you no because they were impractical. In my thirties I fell into a comfortable place with my fashion, which isn’t a bad thing. However, heading into my forties I’m much more willing to experiment with the clothes I’ve invested in. I’m loving my expanded style and how much fun it has been to try new things. Being a fashion & lifestyle influencer has been a great way to expand style. How have you expanded your style?
I’m thankful for all of the lessons I’ve learned and the ways I’ve grown in my thirties, but I’m really excited about all of the adventures to come in my forties. I think this next decade is going to be even more amazing! Bring on the next decade because I’m ready.
XOXO,
