I’ve been thinking a lot about happiness lately.Specifically, where to find it!How to hold onto it. And how to share it with others. One thing that really helps me is to creategratitude lists, whichisbasically a list of things to be happy about.
However, I’ve also learned even on the darkest days, there are things to be happy about.Take a moment of silence and think about what makes you happy.
If you practice appreciation journalism, it’s easy to get caught up in writing down the easy things. Family. Love. A roof over your head. A cup of warm coffee. And those things? They are all blessings. Things to be happy about, for sure, and I am both happy and grateful for these things. But the trick of keeping a gratitude journal, is to look deeper and wider, bigger and smaller which allows yourself to be surprised with new things to create happiness each and everyday.
Things To Be Happy About
Looking smaller really is the key – allowing yourself to be happy about small things will help you find happiness in simplicity. Small things like…..
A cup of warm or cold tea from Teamior hot chocolate on a rainy day. There are few things more relaxing than sitting with a cup of your “favorite” while you listen to the rain fall splash against the windows. And if you read a book with a touch of mystery while you are drinking your cup of jo, the claps of thunder prove a fitting backdrop to the scene.
An organized closet. I love walking into my closet and seeing all of my dresses hanging together, slacks neatly folded over their individual hangers, and shirts neatly lined up by color. And don’t forget shoes! They basically wave at you from their neat rows, just waiting to go out for a stroll.
The Storyteller Stroll!
The Beach. It’s easy to be happy about it when you are there, but I even find happiness in the very existence of the beach when I look at special shells sitting on display in my home or office. Those shells have traveled the world and tossed by the waves, and survived. They are strong even in their fragility.
Packages in the mail. If you do a lot of online shopping, a visit from the mailman often means the arrival of something you have been waiting to receive, which is always nice. But sometimes, a visit from the mailman brings something unexpected. I recently opened my mailbox to find a card from a sweet friend who was thinking about me. It was a ray of sunshine in my day.
Flowers. Flowers in the garden, in my home, and even on the shirt I’m wearing. I love being surrounded by their sweet scent and pops of color. What’s you’re favorite flower?
These are just a few small things that make me happy today. I would love to read your list. Share your happiness in the comments!
XOXO,
