One day I had someone say doesn’t it always rain in Seattle? What is there to do in Seattle besides visit the Space Needle and surround yourself by every umbrella there is! Ha. My answer? SO MANY THINGS! Seriously, there is no lack of fun things to do in Seattle. Here are a few of my favorites.
Fun Things To Do In Seattle
We are going to start with the obvious, because no list of fun things to do in Seattle would be complete without it…
-
The Space Needle
The Space Needle was built for the 1962 World’s Fair, and is arguably one of the most iconic landmarks in Seattle. Normally you can visit the observation deck and the rotating SkyCity restaurant, but the restaurant is currently closed for renovations, so you will need to plan on eating dinner elsewhere. Once you arrive to the top the city view is absolutely fantastic! Can’t wait to visit once it reopens.
-
Seattle Underground
You’ve seen the height of Seattle, now it’s time to see the depth. In 1889, a fire swept through Seattle, destroying 31 blocks of the city. As the rebuilding of the city progressed, the decision was made to raise the streets up and shops and businesses that had rebuilt quickly found themselves below street height. Eventually all of these buildings were left, mostly forgotten, under the bustling Pioneer Square Neighborhood. You can take walking tours through three blocks of the underground city where you will see an old saloon, shopfronts, and a hotel.

Chihuly Garden and Glass
The Chihuly Garden and Glass exhibition includes eight galleries with an extensive collection of Dale Chihuly’s work. The garden mixes a beautiful landscape of plants and flowers with original glass sculptures. The Glasshouse is a 40-foot tall glass and steel building with one of Chihuly’s largest suspended sculptures. It is amazing to see how it is enhanced by the natural light and changes as dusk falls.

The Center For Wooden Boats
The Center for Wooden Boats is a great place to learn about boating. They have exhibits, classes, and festivals. But my favorite thing is the Sunday Public Sail. Every Sunday at Lake Union, volunteers take people out on boats for free. It’s different skippers and crew each week, but it’s always enjoyable.

Seattle Museums
Seattle is full of great museums. Here are a few you don’t want to miss:
- Seattle Art Museum
- Museum of Pop Culture
- Olympic Sculpture Park
- Museum Of Flight
- Museum of History and Industry
- Seattle Pinball Museum
-
Pike Place Market
One of my favorites! Pike Place Market is a Seattle gem. Hundreds of farmers, craftspeople, and small businesses are set up with shops and the community is committed to preserving and protecting the historic buildings and character of the nine-acre historic district. You will also find a plethora of amazing restaurants serving everything from fresh doughnuts to seafood. It’s easy to spend a whole day shopping here.
Seattle is a fun place to visit. The city has a great vibe, and it’s the perfect place to spend a long weekend.
XOXO,
